Liam Neeson-Great Actor Or Not? You Decide

Well Liam Neeson is certainly one of my favorite actors. He has shown over the years how flexible and adaptable he can be. From playing a light-hearted, comedy role in Love Actually to the James Bond-esque, rough and ready spy character in Taken and Taken 2. And don’t forget his Sci-Fi talents in Star Wars or Schindlers List among many other roles either.

Schindlers List is one incredible movie on so many counts. A truly moving and historic movie that should make many movie goers most popular movies of all time list…..

Schindler’s List

It stars Liam Neeson as Schindler, Ralph Fiennes as Schutzstaffel (SS)-officer Amon Göth , and Ben Kingsley as Schindler’s Jewish

Taken and Taken 2 are among my list of most popular movies of all time. Do they make your list? If not, do any Liam Neeson movies make it onto your list?

What was Taken really all about….

Taken (film)

Taken is a 2008 French action thriller film co-written and produced by Luc Besson , starring Liam Neeson , Maggie Grace and Famke

Some classic lines in both “Taken” movies. In Taken 2 for instance….

I still don’t know who you are. I still don’t know what you want. If you are still looking for ransom, I can tell you I still don’t have money. But what I.

What about Liam Neeson the man and the actor….and which football team does he support?……

Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster star in Sorry, Wrong Number, an odd telephonic thriller that starts off with a bang. Stanwyck, playing a shrill invalid, is at home alone and phoning around to find her husband. Thanks to a crossed wire, she overhears a murder plot, but she can barely get anyone to pay attention to her, let alone believe her. The rest of the film is played out in telephone conversations and flashbacks as our increasingly frightened heroine tries to find her husband and unravel the murder. Stanwyck, as always, gives a terrific performance, managing to make her character both unlikeable and compelling at the same time. Lancaster, as her kept husband, is handsome, virile, and trapped all at once. The plot, expanded to a film from a tight, dark little radio play, wanders at times but gathers itself back together for a corker of an ending. --Ali Davis

Based on real events the dramatic thriller "Argo" chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis focusing on the little-known role that the CIA and Hollywood played-information that was not declassified until many years after the event. On November 4 1979 as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point militants storm the U.S. Embassy in Tehran taking 52 Americans hostage. But in the midst of the chaos six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed the Canadian and American governments ask the CIA to intervene. The CIA turns to their top "exfiltration" specialist Tony Mendez to come up with a plan to get the six Americans safely out of the country. A plan so incredible it could only happen in the movies

That Oscar-winning title song buzzes in your ears long after the movie has stopped. The attraction here is youthful spirit and a pulsating score, because the weak story is merely a conduit for the song-and-dance numbers. The plot is every young woman's daydream come true. Jennifer Beals holds down a macho job as a welder by day, but performs erotic dance numbers in a club at night. It's not a strip club, so her morality remains intact. She dates her wealthy boss (Michael Nouri) and practices hard for the day she can audition for the upscale, local dance school, even though she has no formal training. It is malarkey, of course, unless you view this as total romantic fantasy. It works because you are carried along by the sheer force of the energetic, boisterous, MTV-style imagery by director Adrian Lyne. Beals is a plus as the stubborn, pouty, somewhat eccentric young woman made all the more interesting for her driving ambition. In the end, she is aided by her Prince Charming, who arrives bearing favors. Mind you, this is not the same as a rescue, as Beals is one rather tough damsel who does just fine on her own. --Rochelle O'Gorman
